Moog Prodigy external control-"Sync In" does what?

I currently use my Prodigy's external controls with an analog sequencer. While I know what Osc, In, VCF In, and S-Trig is for, I cannot figure out what the input "Sync In" is for.

Does anyone know?

I was hoping it was for syncing the Mod rate...

Perhaps it is to modulate the sync frequency or to sync it with an external oscillator.
