I've decide to sell my Minimoog. After some online research, I can only assume that my Mini Moog is one of the earliest of the Model D’s or it is Pre-production or is a Prototype. I ran across photos of a pre-production Mini labeled Jan 1971, and that is the only one that has a controller layout anything like mine. Mine has the same simple metal toggle style switches for Glide & Decay. Mine has no 1/4" jacks or lights on my Glide/Mod Controller either. My Model D has the same clear wheels for Pitch and Mod that the pre-production model has, and they appear to be hand made from ¼” plexiglass. My electronics case also has a squared off metal box in the back, not a rounded metal box like the production Model D’s.
The electronics inside of mine are all point to point wiring (Old School) except for four large plug-in circuit boards. The connections that the circuit boards plug into are also point to point wired to all the Pots and Switches in the box. The sound of the electronics on my Mini Moog is awesome and has been described as warm and beefier and more bass oriented than in the more modern Model D's. I have taken many pictures you can see if you want me to e-mail them to you. I was thinking of also taking some videos with audio to show the amazing low end sounds this thing is capable of. Let me know if there is any interest in these too.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll get the photos to you. I'm not sure if I should sell it to the person with the highest offer in these forums or if I should take this thing to eBay.
I am trying to get a hold of Moog in New York for research purposes and to see if they are going to put together a (Mini Moog) museum or something like that. If you have any further information about my instrument, and would like to share it, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a feeling that my Mini Moog is relatively rare and it’s hard for me to part with it. I may decide to pick up a Moog Voyager when I sell my Mini to ease the pain. Or I may take a Voyager in partial trade toward the purchase of mine.
My name is Mark and I'm located just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.
