Happy New Year folks,

After at least four years of consideration, I'm planning (within the year) of purchasing a Moog Opus 3. While I'm sure the strings & brass sound great, I'm hoping to use it mostly for organ tones Have any of you used it for that function? How does it compare with the classic Hammond, Vox, Farfisa, or a sampled sound?

Does anyone here have an Opus they'd be willing to part with? How much would you want for it, if so? It wouldn't be immediate, but I'd surely plan on it being within the year.

Thanks a lot.

the organ sounds are great. i have been playing an opus 3 for about 7 years now. i can create very hammondish or churchy kinda pipish organ sounds all the way to super cheesy farfisa/vox sounds. you can also use the organ part to make very high frequency beeps and such, though i find my concertmate is a better noise maker.

i have a farfisa compact organ that is getting too old to gig out. as soon as i have a flight case for the opus i will be using it to replace the farfisa. of all the moogs i have played i would reccommend the opus over all of them based on the cost vs usability/portability factors. you can do almost anything with an opus. the only limit is your imagination.
